Life in the Fast Lane

A TRIATHLETE'S MULTISPORT ADVENTURES, TRAVELS, RANDOM MUSINGS, AND CHRONICLES OF HER OTHERWISE ORDINARY LIFE

An Ode to the Sister

By 9:26 AM , , , , ,

My sister is officially 21 today, which technically shouldn’t make her my little sister anymore. Sadly, I’ll always think of her that way. She’ll just have to live with that.

We’re two of the most opposite people who happen to be related and it fascinates me sometimes. Take a look at her closet and you’ll see her clothes neatly arranged by color and style; look at mine and it’s a dumpsite. She aces Calculus, Finance, Accounting and Economics exams; I used to do best in Advertising, Film, PR, Lit and Spanish classes. She gets excited about running for student office; until now, I prefer being told what to do. She’s a street dancer; the only things I can move in my body are my hands when I doodle or my finger when I click the shutter. She has a wide range of friends from different circles; I prefer counting the number of friends I have on my fingers. She is happiest ordering a huge plate of rice and sinigang; I salivate over pasta and pizza.

Despite all this, I’m glad we share a fondness for dogs, the same warped sense of humor, a love for finding cheap clothes and our faith. I admire the talents and skills God has given her and know without a doubt that she’ll do excellently in life.

Happy birthday to my first ever best friend, the little girl who once stole my Polly Pockets! I loveth thee!
