Life in the Fast Lane

A TRIATHLETE'S MULTISPORT ADVENTURES, TRAVELS, RANDOM MUSINGS, AND CHRONICLES OF HER OTHERWISE ORDINARY LIFE

Mother Nature's Wrath

By 1:35 PM , , , , , , ,

Normally, in February, it's supposed to be cool over here in tropical Manila. This time last year, I distinctly remember being able to walk down the streets of Makati with a jacket. Today, I'd have to be mentally ill to be able to do that.

Mother Nature's been strange lately, and I can't say I blame her. With the recent calamities and natural disasters taking place all over the world, you know things we're headed for worse things. I hear of friends in the USA being trapped in their houses for days due to snow. Over here in Southeast Asia, we're already experiencing a dry spell. And the summer hasn't even begun!

I took this photo after my French class ended at noon today. What used to be lush, green grass just a month ago is no longer. Instead, all you'll see is a sea of brown, very much dead grass, and thinning trees. The heat is insane is over here. As I type, the temperature is 33ºC, or 88ºF; that's usually how hot it gets around mid-March or early April.

This makes me wonder what's in store for all of us. It's only the second month of the year 2010 and already, things are bizarre. I can only pray for what's about to happen, really.

  1. Wow, that's hot. This has been the cruelest winter here in the Southern U.S. in the dozen or so years I've lived her. Odd how opposite sides of the world are having opposite extreme weather.

  2. Yeah, it really is bizarre. I wish Mother Nature could "spread out" the climate so it wouldn't be too cold over there and too dry over here.
