Life in the Fast Lane

Back from the Dead

By 11:40 AM , , ,

I was absent from work the last two days, save for a two-hour meeting that I attended yesterday. I had my usual round of sniffles, dry throat, raspy cough, and the flu. Thankfully I'm a lot better today considering I couldn't speak two days ago. It was hard not being able to talk!

My stupid face, post-flu

It was actually nice to be away for two days, I must admit. Even if I kept on blowing my nose, wiping the tears from my eyes, and trying to expel phlegm (sorry, overshare).

For one thing, I really got to sleep -- something I haven't been doing much of since the new year rolled in. On my first day of absence, after realizing that I didn't have the energy to go to work, I went back to sleep and woke up at 9am. I had breakfast, read a book, then took a mid-morning nap. I fell asleep again after lunch and hit the sack before 9:30pm. How awesome was that?

Also, I got to watch TV. I don't get to watch a lot of TV anymore these days; I only manage to catch my favorites, American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, and Glee reruns, when I remember to. I was able to watch The Amazing Race (which I really enjoy, but I never know the schedule) among other shows. It was nice to just let my brain simmer.

Now I'm back at my desk, trying to be productive and useful, but I kind of miss my bed right now. And the idea of taking a nap whenever I want to.

P.S. Finally, my blog can now "accept" comments. For whatever reason, the comment link wouldn't work in previous posts. If you've tried to comment before but couldn't get through, please try again. I've been comment-deprived all this time and I'd love to hear from you! Thanks!

  1. Testing to see if I can comment now. Please work!

  2. Glad that your'e feeling much better now. It's good that you got yourself some much needed rest even if you had to skip two days of work. People tend to underestimate the value of their own bodies nowadays, working until they can barely move. At the end of the day, we take responsibility for the things that we impose on our own bodies.
On the upside, hooray for indulgences like television! =)

  3. Yay Tina! Both on feeling better and for your blog being able to FINALLY accept comments :)

  4. @ Marz: Hello to my favorite friend from Jakarta! LOL. Seriously, I have to go back so you can take me around! And yeah, I was more than happy to take a break. I guess my body was telling me to rest in its own way. :)

@ Mara: I KNOW! Thanks for alerting me! Seriously, I would have never bothered to figure out what was wrong with the comment box if you didn't say anything. I owe my cyberlife to you!

  5. I'm just glad to help a fellow blogger out :)

  6. Thanks again! Added your blog to my links section. Thought I did it last week but apparently, I was only "following" it. LOL!

  7. No prob! I hope to find more non-LJ blogger friends out there by linking and being linked, too! Haha! :) I'm finding this to be a lot more fun than LJ.

  8. Is LJ your first blog? I went through a LOT of sites before I used LJ. And to meet other bloggers, you literally had to bloghop. Lolz. LJ made me too sheltered.

  9. No, I had two Blogger blogs before LJ. Then I tried Vox and Wordpress and deleted them. And now I'm back.
