Another Adventure

Bonjour, mes amis!

As of this Saturday, I will be a student of French Language and Culture. I enrolled myself in Saturday classes from 9 am to 12 noon after a lot of prayer and self-encouragement.

See, I've always been a lover of languages; especially European languages. I took up Spanish as a minor degree in college and really immersed myself in the language and culture. As a Communication major, I took a European Cinema class and fell in love with it. In general, I'm a fan of the idea of Europe -- from their fashion, to the picturesque sights and sounds it has to offer, to their food and a whole lot more.

Thus, it made sense to try and learn another European language. French was the most obvious follow-up language since it has a lot of similarities with Spanish. Plus, it helps that my co-worker is half-French; I hear her talk to her family members in French every single day and I've learned to pick up words and make out what she says.

So I finally decided to enroll in French lessons after realizing that my university was offering adult classes on Saturday mornings. It seemed perfect since I wouldn't have to go all the way to Makati (a.k.a. to Alliance Française) and I wouldn't have to struggle with leaving the office early on weekdays to make it to class.

Wish me luck! I've tried to catch up in terms of reading and listening to the audio CD (since I missed last week's class when I was still in Bangkok). I can't wait to learn more words and eventually say sentences with the right accent.

Bonne journée!
